Page 6 of 7 What happens after the ceaser ?- Pain killers - you will be given a pessary in to your back passage or an injection if necessary. You can ask for more pain killers if your pain increases as the anaesthetic begins to wear off.
- Eating and drinking – after the operation you can start drinking sips of water. For the first 2-3 days it is recommended that you have light meals.
- Wounds and sutures – You will usually have dissolvable sutures which are not removed. If you have non dissolvable sutures they will need to be removed in 3-5 days. You should try to keep your wound clean and dry to prevent infection.
